When the portion of N.C. 904 is eventually closed, travelers will be detoured onto U.S. 17, N.C. 130 and N.C. 905.

The road is closed near Exit 17 (N.C. 133).

The crash occurred at approximately 6:50 a.m.

Witnesses said that the deputy was driving south on N. College Road with their blue lights and sirens activated through a steady red light at the intersection with Martin Luther King Jr Pkwy.

The NC Department of Transportation plans to close lanes of U.S. 17 Business in both directions on the bridge near Shallotte Park from March 13-16 overnight.

The closure will take place in the 2000 block of Market Street and is expected to last from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
