WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - The Wilmington Fire Department was dispatched Sunday afternoon to “some sort of explosion” at Range Time Guns & Outfitting, according to a spokesperson.

A WFD representative says that the explosion may have been due to something left underground from an older trailer park community that was on the land before the store was built.

The manager described the explosion as a “freak accident.”

The explosion didn’t injure anybody; three employees were working at the time. The manager says that their ears were ringing due to the sound of the explosion.

The WFD isn’t concerned that another explosion will follow.

Crews plan to start digging where the explosion took place to figure out what caused it.
