DELCO, N.C. (WECT) - Traffic along U.S. 74/76 E near Delco was backed-up on Thursday, March 16 due to a wreck near N.C. 87.

According to a representative with the N.C. State Highway Patrol, at approximately 7:30 a.m., a van collided into the rear of a log truck while traveling in the eastbound lanes.

The driver of the van was injured in the collision and taken to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Hospital. Authorities stated that their injuries were non-life-threatening.

Representatives with the NCSHP and Acme-Delco-Riegelwood Fire Rescue stated that sunlight likely played a factor, with ADR Fire Chief Steve Camlin stating that the “blinding early morning sun” and a “sneezing attack” impacted the van driver in the incident.
