Fourth suspect charged with first-degree murder in connection to 14th Street shooting now in custody

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - The fourth suspect charged with first-degree murder in connection to a shooting on S. 14th Street in February has turned himself in, according to a representative with the Wilmington Police Department.

35-year-old Quentin Kennedy reportedly turned himself in on March 8. Police previously arrested 27-year-old Kevin Freeman of Castle Hayne, 28-year-old Rashawn Hines of Wilmington, and 24-year-old Tykeke Hines of Wilmington. All four men are being held without bond at the county jail.

Kennedy is expected to make his first appearance in court on March 9.

Rashawn Hines and Kevin Freeman were arrested during an investigation that resulted in law enforcement finding over 2,100 bags of heroin and a search warrant that closed a section of S. 17th Street.

On March 8, Freeman and Tykeke Hines were appointed to the capital defender’s office and given no bond. Rashawn Hines signed a waiver for court-appointed counsel and was also given no bond. The three are scheduled to reappear in court on March 23.
